So I did this a little different, and made more of a post card than a greeting card.

Article Review 2
So I read the article "The 11th Commandment" and it was written by Jad Davenport in Popular Photography October 2007.
The 11th commandment in photography is thou shalt make photos that bring history to life. The article is basically about Jad being in Israel and trying to find a way to take a photo while giving Jerusalem some historical image life. A question going through his mind was, "How do I bring a historical place to life?" To get some good shots he got up really early, so when he was in the city there would hardly be anyone there.
What I learned was to look outside the box. Try a lot of different shots, because eventually one of them will work. Also it doesn't really matter what the images historical content it, it only matters if the picture means something to you.

Photo Critique's
I like this picture a lot, because it does mean something to me. I wish I would have taken a little different angle, because the grey building shouldn't be the main focus in the picture. I like how the sky is really blue, but the barn looks yellow because of the sunset. I should have maybe brought the reds out a little more to enhance the barn.
This picture had a little mysterious quality that I like. Personally I prefer darker photos, but I could have lighten it up a bit. I like the angle of the picture, but maybe I could have gotten more underneath the tree and shot up.

Words To Images
I sail above your mirrored depths -
the shades of jaded green;
Caverns stretching endlessly -
Tranquil and sub-marine.
Your skin that strokes the endless shores -
A call to come and play;
Of tides that rise, then drift away,
At different times each day.
A veil of sea-spray whips the bow
and trips upon the water,
on gentle swell, through glassy waves
that sighs with salt aroma.
Let me drift upon your depths,
Gently rocked to ease.
In silent, blue that meets the sky
On peaceful, calming seas.
I just picked this because I thought it was a really calming poem, and my cat looked peaceful. I think it would be pretty easy and relaxing being a cat. :)

Poems and Pictures
The Eclipse
I stood out in the open cold
To see the essence of the eclipse
Which was its perfect darkness.
I stood in the cold on the porch
And could not think of anything so perfect
As mans hope of light in the face of darkness.
-I thought this was a really nice poem, because I like being up at night wayyyy more than being up during the day. I'm a total night owl, and its nice to be by yourself at night.

One by one each year flew by,
Since you both said “I do"
25 years of memories,
Shared by the two of you.
From big events and holidays
To simple daily pleasures,
Some tearful times along life’s way,
Some joys that can’t be measured
One by one each year now gone,
But still they’re yours forever
Each and every memory,
Of a quarter Century together!
-So this poem reminded me of my parents, because they are going to celebrate their 25 Wedding Anniversary this August.

Photo Critiques
1. The rainbow photo for me personally, is a little dark. I would have liked it to be a little lighter, or at least lighten the sky. I do like that you can faintly see the double rainbow. If it is possible to make it more noticeable I think it would enhance the picture. The rocks that are dark looks good, because they really arn't the focus of the picture, so you don't want them as noticeable.
2. For some reason, blogger won't let me upload this picture, so heres the link: http://www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-ViewPhoto.cfm?id=102532
This is a picture of a round bale of what the author calls hay, but I would say it looks more like a round straw bale. I like how they but the center of the bale in the center of the picture, but I kinda wonder if it would give it a more interesting angle to offset the center. I do like the photo, because it reminds me of summer and working out at the farm. The editing is pretty good, no visible blur marks, or dust. I think having this photo in color was a good idea, it would have looked funny in black and white. Like I said the only thing I would have really changed is just to see how it would look if it wasn't centered, maybe even if you could adding a blue sky to the top. That would have looked really nice and would make me wish for summer even more than I already do.

Reading Assignment 1
Ok, since I wasn't at school on Thursday, I decided to read one of the articles that was on The Blog. I choose to read about "60 Ways to Inspire Your Photography." I'd like to share some of the tips that the article mentioned.
Photoshop is a great way to play with different settings, and you can really do a lot with it. If you take a color picture you could change it to being black and white. Also you could change colors, make something brighter or duller.
Looking at your surroundings can really get some inspirations from your environment. Try looking at things from a different point of veiw. Try zooming in on an object to give it some texture and a different perspective.
Go to a different location. If you always shoot in your house, thats all the inspiration you have. Try going outside, or maybe even to the zoo. What I do is go out to our farm, so i have a wide variety of images.
