Portrait Posing

http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Photography/Lessons/452.php

What I learned:
- Posing is one of the most important aspects of a picture
- Good techniques are: Allowing the subject to sit comfortably, let subjects sit or stand as they feel normal and make slight adjustments, don't be afraid to give direction, don't have subjects worry about animales, don't worry about things you can't control.

What I learned:
Try to capture the magic, the most memorable pictures are the candid ones of families interacting with themselves, or couples kissing. Also you really should only follow rules when they make sense. If a picture breaks the rules it could still work.

Mother's Day

I was gone when you assigned the Mother's Day stuff. So I didn't really know what to do. Mom would only take a picture with someone else, so here's Mom and Dad. :)

Portrait Photography

I really like this picture, because it focuses on the kid and the parents helping him.
What do you first see when you look at the photo? I first see the kid
Does the photo tell a story (what does it appear the people are thinking)? Doesn't really tell a story to me, but just shows the love of parents.
What makes the image professional looking vs. just another snapshot? Lighting really makes this picture effective.
Why do you think the photographer posed them this particular way? Its a cute idea, and really creative way to show the relationship between parents and children.
How does this shot inspire your next portrait shot? Wants me to show the relationship between objects.

This captures a really good moment in a couples life, kinda tells a story
What do you first see when you look at the photo? Their faces almost touching
Does the photo tell a story (what does it appear the people are thinking)? Shows the love between the couple
What makes the image professional looking vs. just another snapshot? How they are positioned with their heads and hands
Why do you think the photographer posed them this particular way? Its a really simple background, and helps you really focus on the people.
How does this shot inspire your next portrait shot? It would be cool to show how one picture could capture a lifetime of love in a couples relationship.

Such a cute little girl, I like the extra editing they did in the picture.
What do you first see when you look at the photo? Girls face
Does the photo tell a story (what does it appear the people are thinking)? Doesn't tell a story, just shows that she's happy I guess since she is smiling.
What makes the image professional looking vs. just another snapshot? All the extra's in the background and the editing.
Why do you think the photographer posed them this particular way? Shows the girl being cute and innocent.

I hate this picture. It is just a creepy picture, and I don't like at all. I guess its good because it tells a story, but its creepy...... Tom, Forrest and Tim agree with me.

What do you first see when you look at the photo? Nasty pregnant belly
Does the photo tell a story (what does it appear the people are thinking)? Shows the dude being in love with his wife when shes all fat and pregnant
What makes the image professional looking vs. just another snapshot? Lighting, and how the edges are burnt
Why do you think the photographer posed them this particular way? Show the love and memories that will be made after the baby comes out
How does this shot inspire your next portrait shot? I'm NEVER taking a picture like this.... Sorry but it just creeps me out.

Cute little girl. It shows her being really peaceful and calm.

What do you first see when you look at the photo? Babies chubby cheeks :)
Does the photo tell a story (what does it appear the people are thinking)? No story, just shows the kid being peaceful
What makes the image professional looking vs. just another snapshot? Definently the way the lighting is in this to show off the shadows.
Why do you think the photographer posed them this particular way? I don't think she was really posed, just probably layed down.
How does this shot inspire your next portrait shot? Babies are always cute, so if I ever get to shoot a baby I'm definently going to do it
